The Electronic System for Travel Authorization, ESTA Visa Waiver, is a program designed to strengthen the security of travel to the United States. If you are about to begin the online ESTA registration process for the ESTA form for the USA, there are several things you should know about the ESTA requirements.

All individuals from Visa Waiver Countries planning to travel to the United States for up to 90 days must apply for the ESTA an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to their travel. ESTA Visa Application Requirements

Those who wish to apply for an ESTA visa must read the following ESTA visa application requirements carefully and make sure to meet all of them, in order to make a successful application.

  • The travel purpose must be either Tourism, Business or Transit to another country. Study, work and permanent residence are not permitted on the US Visa Waiver Program.
  • Applicants must hold a valid passport with an electronic chip from one of the following countries: United Kingdom, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium Brunei, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein,Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan.
  • Under the US visa law, are not eligible to receive an ESTA those travelers who have been arrested or have criminal records, certain serious communicable illnesses, those who have been refused admission or have been deported from the United States, or have previously overstayed in the USA for more than 90 days on the Visa Waiver Program.
  • Under the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, are also no longer eligible to travel or be admitted to the United States under the ESTA Visa Waiver Program those travelers who have traveled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes). Travellers who are nationals of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria are not eligible.

How to Apply for an ESTA?

If you wish to apply for an ESTA, it means that you need to meet the requirements listed above, before applying for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Prior to your trip make sure your passport has the required validity.
The US ESTA visa application process takes approximately 10 minutes per applicant. The ESTA registration should be completed at least 72 hours before your departure to the United States. The ESTA is processed in less than 24 hours. However, in some cases, it may take longer to process, up to 72 hours.
In order to complete an application process successfully, you need to pay the respective fee for the authorization. ESTA prices are the same for all citizens from visa waiver countries.
If you are not the holder of a passport from a country in the Visa Waiver Program, you cannot apply for the ESTA. You can, however, apply for a category B American visa at your nearest embassy or consulate.

ESTA Form and Registration Process Guidelines

The ESTA form consists of sections regarding the candidate’s personal information, passport details, travel andbehaviour. The ESTA application form gathers all of the traveler’s information in order to screen it against a series of databases.

  • Make sure that the information on your passport matches the info on your ESTA application.

  • Revise all information before submitting the ESTA application form.
  • Make sure you provide a valid email address.

After answering to all questions a payment is required in order to submit the ESTA application. You can use a debit or credit card to pay for the fee. If you don’t pay the fee for the ESTA your application will not be processed. Bear in mind that in order to enter the US you need to travel with an approved ESTA visa.
