One of the best art galleries in the US is the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. which is home to self-portraits by Rembrandt and Van Gogh. This DC art museum offers visitors the chance to see artworks by great European and American masters such as Rubens, Raphael, Titian, Vermeer, Manet, Monet, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso and many more.
Another of the best art museums in the US is the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston which houses a huge collection of American, Egyptian and even Japanese artworks. As well as these compilations, the Museum of Fine Arts branches out into other areas and includes a collection of musical instruments dating from medieval times and a sci-fi-inspired fashion exhibit.
Founded as both a museum and school for the arts in 1879, the Art Institute of Chicago presents a huge collection of American, African-American and antique Asian artworks as well as expanding the cataloged objects to include decorative artwork as well as 20th century furniture.
The Museum of Modern Art in NYC also known as MoMA exhibits a remarkable array of contemporary art and has the pleasure of housing some of the most exquisite masterpieces of the 20th century including Les Demoiselles d’Avignon by Picasso and Starry Night by Van Gogh. Creating a tasteful atmosphere, set in the backdrop of Midtown Manhattan, the MoMA is a favorite for art-lovers from around the world.
