If I am from an eligible country and travel with my family, do all of us need to apply for an ESTA?

ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is an official authorization document, allowing successful applicants to enter the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Citizens of 38 countries may take advantage of this program and make an easy and rapid online ESTA application. The United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia are amongst those countries.

The application process does not take longer than 10 minutes per applicant and results in most cases are given almost immediately.

All foreign nationals are required to have legal authorization to enter the U.S. Age or nationality are not factors that might influence this regulation. Each member of a family group traveling together must make a separate application for an ESTA. If any of the family members does not qualify for the travel authorization, they should apply for a B2 tourist visa or a B1 work visa.

Making a group application will not influence the results of individual applications.
Applicants with an “Authorization Pending” status should be patient and allow for up to 72 hours to see an updated status.
