Can I apply for ESTA without travel plans?

Travelers can apply for the ESTA without having made specific plans regarding the date of their trip.

Due to the fact that the electronic travel authorization is issued for a period of two consecutive years, applicants are not expected to know the places they will visit during this time.

In the case of travelers who have made specific plans and wish to visit multiple locations, information about each one of them is not required. Only the first place to be visited should be entered into the online ESTA application form.

If the address is unknown, a hotel name or location would suffice.

Individuals who plan to transit through the US can select this option on the ESTA application question.
